About Giraffes Can Bake

Hey there, welcome to my blog! I’m Michelle and I’m the baker behind the yummy things on this little blog. I live in London, UK and spend a fair bit of time in Atlanta, GA too. I treat my cats like their my children, I get way too invested in fictional characters and I have an addiction to cinnamon!

Here on Giraffes Can Bake you’ll find a wide range of delicious recipes, if it’s sweet you’re sure to find it on this blog. There are recipes for every occasion and any skill level – from easy, quick desserts the whole family will love, to more complex recipes to keep even the more experienced bakers on their toes (always with clear, easy to follow instructions so even beginners can impress their friends and family!). Check out the recipe index to find your next delicious bake!

I’ve been baking properly for about 6 years, it is definitely my biggest passion in life. But it’s only in the last three years that I discovered my passion for blogging about my baking. I don’t have any training in the culinary arts, I just teach myself in a trial-and-error kind of way – with a little help from the internet of course – and I’m here to share my successes with you! I’m always trying to branch out of my comfort zone, try out new things, so please do join me in this crazy baking journey – tips, comments and encouragement are always appreciated so don’t be shy!

Pancake Cupcakes with Lemon Buttercream Frosting and Syrup - British style pancakes, but not as you know them! Fluffy pancake batter baked into cupcake form, topped with mini pancakes, zesty lemon buttercream frosting and a thick lemon sugar syrup. A new and delicious way to enjoy pancakes this Pancake Day!

I am also a bit of an amateur mixologist, so you will see plenty of awesome cocktails and drinkings appearing on the blog!

This Grapefruit and Thyme Bourbon Smash is full of bright citrus flavour and aromatic herbs, showcasing the best of winter seasonal fruit. Muddled lime and thyme, combined with fresh grapefruit juice and delicious bourbon, it’s the perfect way to get the most out of those amazing grapefruits. This cocktail is refreshing, full of flavour and totally gorgeous – it’s the perfect cocktail to serve at any occasion.

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to seeing you around here on Giraffes Can Bake!

Hey Michelle! I really enjoy following your blog and checking out all of your beautiful recipes. I’d like to feature you in my upcoming Blog Tour Post. Alex at Dinner Daydreams http://dinnerdaydreams.wordpress.com/2014/06/27/blog-tour/ recently featured me in hers, and now it’s time for me to feature some of my favourite blogs. If you’re okay with it, I’d list you as one of the featured bloggers in the post, and then you’d do a post next week and choose your three. Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Michelle!
I just wanted to say again how great the peanut butter rice krispie treats were that you posted. I brought them into work and 2 people asked me for the recipe, I sent them to your blog! One woman said “well, if Giraffes can back, so can I!” : ) I was just wondering if you’d mind if I posted the recipe and linked back to your blog? They were so delicious! Thank you, hope to see you at Fiesta Friday!!!
